Amazon Plans to Launch Air Freight Service for Chinese Sellers
Amazon already helps sellers handle shipments by land and sea. Soon it will add air to that list. It’s planning to offer sellers in China the ability to fly their goods internationally as air cargo.
For Chinese sellers, this will smoothen the process. It will also increase competition for international based sellers.
Amazon Begins to Collect Sales Tax in 2 More States
Your tax-free shopping days are coming to an end. At least if you’re living in Hawaii or Idaho. Amazon will start to collect sales tax for the two states on April 1. After that, it’s only in Maine where customers can still avoid sales tax by shopping at Amazon.
If you’re a shopper in any of these states, ensure you get your shopping done before April Fools’ Day. And as for sellers, be sure to file your sales tax in these states as regulation continues to tighten in each state.
Amazon Adds Alexa to Its Main Shopping App
Alexa, Amazon’s virtual assistant, will soon be added to the company’s shopping app on iPhone. It answers questions, plays music, and makes checklists — among other things.
Most likely, the goal of adding Alexa to Amazon’s shopping app is to further market Alexa to a wider audience. This is an exciting development for sellers. Amazon comes up with innovations to attract customers with different buying options.
Amazon Prime Now Includes Liquor
Amazon Prime gathers a greater audience every day. Recently Amazon announced that Prime Now — the one hour delivery service — will include wine, beer, and liquor products. But this only concerns Columbus and Cincinnati for now.
This add-on is bound attract more customers to Prime, which is a great revenue source for the company. And it opens up a new category for sellers looking to expand their business with Prime.
Amazon Offers Spanish Language Option
Soon you should be able to view Amazon’s US site in Spanish. The ecommerce giant is planning to give you the option to choose between English and Spanish.
The US is the world’s largest English speaking economy, just after Mexico. So the move makes a lot of financial sense.
As a US-based seller, keep this in mind. Not all Americans speak perfect English, nor prefer to read in English.
Look into getting your listing done in Spanish too. Then you open your listing to another 41 million American native Spanish speakers.
